Philanthropy Day – presentation Giving in Holland 2022

At the annual philanthropy day, Thursday 16 June 2022, VU University Amsterdam presents the latest research results from the study Giving in the Netherlands 2022: on trends in the giving behavior of Dutch households, foundations, companies and charities in 2020 with a focus on the impact of the corona crisis on the sector philanthropy, giving behavior and volunteering.

At the annual philanthropy day, Thursday 16 June 2022, VU University Amsterdam presents the latest research results of the study Giving in the Netherlands 2022. Here, the trends that arise in Dutch households, foundations, companies and giving behavior are examined. charitable lotteries in 2020. Attention will be focused on the impact of the corona crisis on the philanthropy sector, providing behavior and volunteering. The research is published in book form and published by Amsterdam University Press.

The release of Giving in the Netherlands 2022 will be celebrated with an interactive symposium from 14.00 – 17.30. Under the leadership of today’s chairman Frénk van der Linden, various researchers will present results from the latest Geven in Holland 2022 study.

René Bekkers discusses the power of philanthropy. What is the state of philanthropy? How has COVID-19 affected giving behavior? And how does rewarding behavior change over the course of a lifetime? Claire van Teunenbroek takes the audience on a journey to the latest insight into household gifts and volunteer work. How has giving behavior changed in 2020? Claire also discusses online giving behavior and online volunteering. Dick de Gilder will talk about corporate contributions and Corporate Social Responsibility. How resilient is the companies’ rewarding behavior in money, goods and time? What are the (in) opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to engage in corporate social responsibility? In an interactive discussion, Theo Schuyt will discuss the strength of social initiative and volunteer work, followed by an interactive reflection on the research findings of the broad philanthropic sector.
