What do you want to do?

As a researcher in crisis management and critical infrastructure, you are part of the research group Networked Organizations.
You work in a team with passionate colleagues to, for example, improve the information position and decision-making within crisis management and analyze vulnerabilities and risks across chains for the protection of vital infrastructure in the Netherlands. With this you create insight into networks, dependencies and risks, on the other hand you develop methodologies, tools and concepts that our customers and partners can use themselves.

Formulating an answer to these issues requires in-depth knowledge of the causes, consequences, strategies and actions that play a role in these issues. You develop knowledge about how people, organizations, information, processes and technology in complex organizations are connected and how interdisciplinary network organizations work. You study how information is disseminated through networks, how risks and vulnerabilities arise due to dependencies within those networks, and how decisions are made. In these analyzes, you gather different aspects and look at the whole system.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a colleague who has a passion for researching and understanding the interplay between organization, process, information and technology. This complex, material matter can be translated into useful applications. You get energy from organizing and attending work meetings with clients, and you are able to report and publish clearly about this.

What else do we expect:

  • You have a relevant university degree, such as political science / international relations, crisis and security management, (technical) public administration / company administration or integrated security science. We are an interdisciplinary team looking for different backgrounds. So do not hesitate to answer!
  • We are looking for people with 0 to 10 years of work experience. We are looking for various new colleagues, both start-ups and more experienced are welcome.
  • It is an advantage if you have knowledge and experience of the security domain, including crisis management and vital infrastructure.
  • You are a strong researcher, analytical, have experience in conducting (practical) research, like to think conceptually and have scientific curiosity. Both knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods is welcome (a research master is an advantage).
  • You can work well together, know how to tackle things, and you can quickly switch between different activities.
  • You have good communication skills (both written and oral and both Dutch and English).

What does the process look like?

You can respond until and including June 11, 2022. The application procedure consists of two rounds of interviews. The first round is scheduled for June 17, 2022. The second round is scheduled for June 21, 2022. At a final meeting, we will discuss the employment conditions that you put together yourself. We strive to complete the entire procedure within four weeks.

An online assessment and reference check can be part of the selection procedure.

Because you also have to work for clients in the field of defense and security, it is necessary for the AIVD to issue a Declaration of No Objection (VGB). Therefore, you need to undergo a safety check beforehand. You can read more about this here.
