This is what you need to do
As a grant advisor, you work closely with researchers and their (potential) business, academic and start-up partners to develop projects and obtain funding from national sources. You do this by offering support throughout the process from project idea to finished proposal.

You initiate and facilitate the interaction between researchers and R & D employees in companies to formulate innovation and / or research projects. You identify national funding opportunities that may be of interest to the major research topics within TU Delft and formulate a funding strategy in collaboration with researchers. With your advice and sharp reviews, you make a relevant contribution to the realization of major research and innovation projects at an international top university.

You will work in the Directorate for Strategic Development and from there you will be sent to the Innovation & Impact Center: the directorate with responsibility for policy and support for the university’s third core task (in addition to research and education): valorisation.

The Innovation & Impact Center supports the establishment of partnerships between business, governments and knowledge institutions to work together on social issues and to pass on knowledge to society. I&IC includes the work areas Public Affairs, Research Funding, Corporate Innovation, Campus & Ecosystem Development and works for the Executive Board, the deans and the scientists at TU Delft.

You are part of the Research Funding NL team working on calls from NWO and RVO. You will work with dozens of colleagues with different backgrounds within the Innovation & Impact Center, the faculties and the departments. The Dutch system for research funding is changing. You will develop and use your own expertise to ensure successful TU Delft participation in new national programs.

You have strong communication skills, and you can easily get in touch at various levels with top researchers, management within companies and grant organizations. You know how to achieve the right results independently and in teams, and you make the difference through your proactive attitude. You know how to prioritize and you can handle the time pressure that grant processes sometimes bring;

You also have:

  • WO work and thinking level;
  • Relevant work experience as a supporter of research projects;
  • Affinity with academia;
  • Excellent written and oral skills (both Dutch and English).

Working conditions

  • The employment contract is for 1 year with a view to permanent employment.
  • A position of 32-38 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 12 from the collective employment agreement for Dutch universities with a minimum of € 4,629 and a maximum of € 5,943 gross per month based on a full working week (38 hours), plus 8% holiday pay and a termination of annual bonus of 8 , 3%.

University Service – Strategic Development
The Strategic Development Department provides the Executive Board of TU Delft with advice and practical support in the following areas, among others: current (national) political issues within higher education, strategic planning of the university, research profiling, (inter) nationally. collaboration, research funding and business intelligence. The employees have knowledge of and experience of working in a large complex organization, strong conceptual capacity, adaptability and organizational sensitivity, are results- and product-oriented and have a well-developed ability to operate in a complex network in the immediate vicinity of the institution’s management.
