The impact of digitalisation on companies goes far beyond process optimization: it has become part of their strategy. The value of data is greater than ever, thanks in part to the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The demand for reliable environments for exchanging data is growing enormously. And the technical and organizational challenges are numerous. As a consultant, you connect top experts in data ecosystems with companies and institutions and ensure that innovative data ecosystems are developed so that data can be shared carefree, secure and controlled.
What do you want to do?
As a consultant, you are the link between TNO and the outside world, where you are the point of contact for large international organizations, SMEs and industry associations. You translate state-of-the-art knowledge and technologies into concrete solutions and you connect people and organizations with each other.
Are you curious about what TNO is already doing? Take, for example, a look at our contribution to the Dutch AI Coalition for Responsible Data Sharing and where we work on an information sharing plan. Or read about the Smart Connected Supplier Network, where we work on a large-scale solution for (SME) manufacturing companies to be able to share information in complex supply chains. Read more about the department Data ecosystems.
How will you contribute to the world of the future? How big can your influence be? Come and work at TNO and see for yourself.
What we expect from you
To combine innovative research with working with relevant practical applications in partnership with clients and other organizations; you will be happy about that. With us, you get great freedom to organize your work in your own way. It also comes with responsibility. You are therefore someone who is able to work independently and who seeks out information himself. At the same time, you do what it takes to keep in touch with your colleagues who work across the country.
What else do you bring:
- A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, business information systems, business informatics, technical business administration, industrial engineering or operational research.
- Excessive interest in the technical side of IT and in particular knowledge of and professional experience with system integration.
- Experience with Agile working methods and experience with SAFe is an advantage.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the industrial sector, logistics, mobility or energy.
- The driving force and the potential to (further) develop.
- Excellent oral and written skills in both Dutch and English.
What we offer you
In addition, at TNO you can put together a ‘menu’ with terms of employment that suit your personal situation. Whatever you can expect:
- A highly professional, innovative work environment, with top experts as colleagues.
- Opportunity to follow courses, trainings and workshops and to attend conferences, and coaching if you need it.
- 33 vacation days (with full-time employment).
- An employer who values and encourages talent.
- Travel money.
- Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home.
- Comprehensive relocation package for international applicants.
- A good pension scheme.

TNO as employer
At TNO, we encourage a spacious work environment where you can be yourself. Whatever your story is and whatever unique qualities you bring. It is precisely by combining our unique strengths and perspectives that we are able to develop innovations that make a real difference in society. Do you know more? What does the process look like?
You can respond up to and including 15 July 2022. The application procedure consists of 3 rounds of interviews, where we discuss the employment conditions in the last round. We aim to complete the process within 4 weeks.
An online assessment and reference check can be part of the selection procedure.
Because you also have to work for clients in the field of defense and security, it is necessary for the AIVD to issue a Declaration of No Objection (VGB). Therefore, you need to undergo a safety check beforehand. You can read more about this here.
Has this position aroused anything in you?
