Prof. dr. Dr. Kim Putters, President of the Social and Economic Council, has been appointed University Professor ‘Broad Prosperity’ at Tilburg University from 16 September 2022 for one day a week. A university professor is a special position for a leading professor with an important scientific reputation and a broad interest in scientific and political issues. As an ambassador for the university, the professor ensures academic and social impact.

Kim Putters will focus on the theme of ‘Broad Prosperity’. Broad prosperity is an important strategic theme for Tilburg University, where three interdisciplinary research themes are central: the transition to sustainability, inequality and well-being and health. These broad social themes are not unique, but are studied with a clear Tilburg signature, namely based on legislation and rules, markets and organizations, communities and citizens, as well as technology and data.

About Kim Putters
Kim Putters has been appointed Chairman of the Social and Economic Council (SER) with effect from 16 September 2022. The Social and Economic Council (SER) is the most important advisory council to the government and parliament on socio-economic issues. Entrepreneurs, employees and independent crown members work together in SER.
Putters was director of the Social and Cultural Planning Office (SCP) from 2013 to 2022. In addition, until September 2022, he is Professor of Policy and Management of Care in the Changing Welfare State at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. From 2008 to 2013, he was also a professor of management of nursing homes there. Mr. Putters was an assistant professor at the Tilburg School of Politics and Governance between 2003 and 2008. In 2022, the Open University awarded Kim Putters an honorary doctorate because of the appealing way in which he makes scientifically substantiated, complex social issues accessible to a wide audience.
Between 2003 and 2013, Putter was a member and first vice president of the Senate. He is also a board member of the National Committee on 4 and 5 May and deputy chairman of the Orange Foundation and was already a member of the Crown at SER.
