Psychology teachers (0.7 – 0.9 man-years)


At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Psychology, we are looking for enthusiastic lecturers in various departments.
What do you want to do:

  1. Department of Clinical Psychology:
    At the Department of Clinical Psychology, we are primarily looking for a (near) PhD teacher and a teacher from the professional field with experience with patients in psychiatry. The teacher’s core task is to teach working groups on the Dutch-language bachelor’s program in psychology (especially in clinical subjects, such as Diagnostics) and on the English-taught master’s program in clinical psychology. You will also supervise internships and specialties, contribute to the development and quality of the education and in the long run coordinate a course.
  2. Department of Developmental Psychology:
    The Department of Developmental Psychology handles education within the Psychology Bachelor’s program and the Master’s program Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. You will primarily be focused on teaching the ‘clinical’ subjects within these educations. The master’s program within the department is taught in English.
  3. Department of Psychological Function:
    The Department of Psychological Functional Learning provides teaching at the bachelor’s programs in psychology and artificial intelligence and at University College Utrecht. The department is also active in the master’s programs Applied Cognitive Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Neuropsychology and Neuroscience & Cognition and in the Helmholtz PhD program (Cognition & Behavior). The core tasks of the position mainly consist of working group and student guidance in some of the above-mentioned courses in line with the research within the department.
  4. Department of Social, Health and Organizational Psychology:
    At the Department of Social, Health and Organizational Psychology, we are primarily looking for a teacher who has or is about to be a PhD. Your core task will be to contribute to education in both the Dutch-taught Psychology bachelor program and the English-taught master’s program in Social, Health and Organizational Psychology. The education consists of providing guidance in various subjects and supervising bachelor and master’s students in writing a thesis (in Dutch and English). Efforts in pedagogical development and coordination and in other subjects in the Psychology education are possible.


What to bring:

  1. Department of Clinical Psychology:
    You have experience or demonstrable affiliation with teaching and supervising students. You will also encounter one of the following profiles:
    Profile 1: You have broad and extensive experience with patients in the mental health service, and preferably a clinical registration as a health psychologist, psychotherapist or cognitive behavioral therapist (VGCt).
    Profile 2: You have (almost) obtained your PhD. in clinical psychology and you have demonstrable experience in scientific research and education.
  2. Department of Developmental Psychology:
    – You have a master’s degree in developmental psychology or a related specialization.
    – You are in possession of BAPD; clinical records are a plus.
    – You have an affinity for conducting scientific research; a research master and / or PhD is an advantage.
    – You have affiliation and preferably also experience of working as a developmental psychologist in education, youth care or forensic medicine;
    – You would like to have experience in providing academic education in developmental psychology.
  3. Department of Psychological Function:
    – You have preferably (almost) obtained a PhD degree in an education-relevant area within the department; for example in cognitive or (applied) experimental psychology, cognitive artificial intelligence, cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology or a comparable discipline.
    – You can use your own research expertise in education and in specialization in specialization.
    – You have experience with at least one of the following programming languages ​​and / or techniques: Python, R, EEG analysis, psychophysiological measurements, psychophysics, fMRI.
  4. Department of Social, Health and Organizational Psychology:
    – You prefer (almost) a PhD. in social psychology, health psychology or work and organizational psychology or you have completed a research master’s.
    – You have demonstrable research experience.
    – You have a demonstrable affiliation or experience with teaching and supervision of bachelor and master’s students.


We offer a four-year contract, with room for 10% professional development time, intended for obtaining the basic teaching qualification (UTQ) or, if you already have one, for other activities that increase career opportunities. The salary – depending on knowledge, experience, registration and any qualifications – is a minimum of € 2,960 and a maximum of € 4,670 gross per month (scale 10 in the Dutch universities’ collective bargaining agreement) for a full-time employment of 38 hours per week.
